"This was ta perfect job to get my foot into the door. Once I got my bachelors degree, I started my career here and learned a lot. This place taught me what it's like to work my first 9-5 job and taught me everything I need to know to be successful."

"Very corporate and structured. Work depends on your manager. Some people get overworked some are under worked depending on the department. Very grey and traditional corporate environment. Management likes people to be seat warmers. Pay is on the low end."

"I have worked with virtualization in the past, however at PennyMac, the technology was new and there was a lot of bugs that still needed to be worked out. There was little leadership for the IT infrastructure department and as a result the environment was plagued with repeating service outages from routine maintenance and updates of the virtual environment. There was also no follow through from the lessons learned and root cause analysis that were performed during each of the outages."

"This place is a disappointment."

What do you like about working at PennyMac?

"I am leaving as soon as I find a new job. There is not much to like, the management makes the employees work overtime even if they have nobody to watch their children and threaten them with losing their job even if they plead their case to them."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't waste your time, it's a bait and switch technique. This place is just being built-up to sell it to another big company soon."

What don't you like about working at PennyMac?

"Low quality management. Overworked and burned-out employees. Negative attitudes all over the place. Everyone is scared of losing their job. Everyone who works here got hired because they were friends with someone else at a previous company; the quality of employees has been getting worse."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire better management, not your friends. Underwriting department is tired of the non-working management who talk about what new muffler they'll add to their cars all day with each other."

Senior Network Engineer

"Extremely demanding position with no obvious appreciation for efforts."

What do you like about working at PennyMac?

"The management hired the best people in the industry. The business model has the potential to be very successful. The majority of the staff are extremely nice to work with."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do not expect fast career growth. The hours are long and the workload is heavy. The CEO has integrity though and if you prove your worth and survive long enough you should eventually get rewarded."

What don't you like about working at PennyMac?

"There is a large amount of nepotism in the management structure, with many being shareholders. This has cultivated a culture of management based on fear and intimidation. Most employees were hand selected and promised large bonuses in return for lower salaries and high work loads, the bonuses weren't issued. The staff are over worked and under appreciated."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Remove or demote the friends and family members who are using their relationship to the founders for their own gain. Promote based on ability and results. Pay more attention to the practices of those down the management chain. Show appreciation to the staff, these are the best people in the business and they are all working extremely hard for little to no appreciation."
