Working at National Network of Digital Schools in Pittsburgh, PA: 1 Employee Reviews

iOS Programmer

"The work experience of making apps was great."

What do you like about working at National Network of Digital Schools?

"The office I worked out of was really comfortable. The other employees where friendly and everyone was treated like adults."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If the position is contract-to-hire, assume it is temporary and that you can be let go at any time. From what I've been told so far is that I've done great work but they just don't want to pursue/invest anymore into apps. Although I don't know why others are no longer at the company, I have yet to see a contractor turn permanate there that I can think of."

What don't you like about working at National Network of Digital Schools?

"One thing I didn't like is that they seem to have commitment issues, which others have mentioned that worked there. When I first started I heard stories about the many projects that are started but never finished at NNDS. It seems a lot of projects are never finished, and simply finishing the apps I've created was a big deal there. That is the perception I was given anyway. Also as a contractor the max number of hours I was allowed to work was 40 hours per-week. Unfortunately the job they wanted done sometimes required more than 40 hours a week to complete. This lead to many unpaid hours, which I didn't mind because I thought I was working to become part of something. Looking back not only did I live check-to-check, but I wasn't even being compensated for the amount of hours some of the work realistically required. Especially during the times when a lot was dropped on me at one time and yet I still managed a rapid turnaround time."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"N/A. Other than a few company events and the small team I worked directly with, I wasn't given any exposure to the company. Therefore I can't really suggest on anything because I felt like I was kept in my own world."
