"It's a great environment and I like the policies that ensure people are not allowed to be intimidated or preyed on by other employees or managers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Just be yourself. Be honest. Be fair. Show up for work when you are supposed to. Do your job to the best of your ability. It does get noticed."

What don't you like about working at Meijer?

"The pay is not commensurate with experience or expertise. Systems Monitors start at minimum wage. Three months later a 10 cent raise, and another one after another three months. After that it is a 25 cent raise every six months."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't look just inside the company for hiring team leaders and management. Sometimes outside people can bring a lot more to the table and help your store excel."

"I have worked for Meijer since 2006. If you are a part-time employee, it is hard to move to full time in less than 2 or 3 years. Even harder to move into management in less than 7 years - unless you have prior retail management experience."
