Working at IFG Cos. in Burlington, NC: 3 Employee Reviews

IFG Cos. Employee

"Overall company benefits are about average, with health benefits and 401(k). Your experience depends on the department you are in - like a lot of companies, there are managers that are good and look out for people, and others that are only out for number 1. The CEO is very eccentric, and will fire anyone for the most minor of perceived issues. There is a general culture that allows all sorts of misbehavior without consequence. There are many people that work excessive hours, but there are also those that barely show up, work(?) 3 to 4 hours, and leave. I have seen one clear case of sandbagging go on for years without them getting fired. If you are in IT expect dysfunction. The CIO is very reactive, and has many projects he hides from the rest of the company, including his own staff. This causes the projects he has done needing to be reworked. He will expect to have people produce with impossible deadlines, and does not care how many hours you work to get it accomplished. He does not care if there are people that under perform, as there is no consequence - this only creates much more work for those that do work. The IT team leads are a bizzare group of people, and very difficult to talk to. Might have something to do with the culture. Here in Burlington it is a hotbed of gossip about the next reorganization, and who might get laid off. This causes chaos and in-fighting, and has resulted in several people resorting to sabotaging the work of others. The electronic, video, audio and human surveillance has reached epic proportions: so much so that there are people on the staff that do little else. One manager was fired for authorizing this. The people in supervisory/management positions resort to a pattern of outright lies and running others under the bus in order to avoid being reprimanded."

"I've worked for IFG Companies since 2/2013. The IT staff is an exceptional group of talented and motivated individuals who have developed a strong sense of esprit d'corp. The working environment is very relaxed (only place I've been able to wear tee shirts and jeans to work in many years). It has been a pleasure to work here."
