"If I could go back to work there, I would in a heartbeat!"

What do you like about working at Home Shopping Network?

"All employees, no matter what department, were emboldened with the motto continuous improvement.. It was exciting to be a part of an organization that was continuously focused on improving all aspects of the business, whether it was process improvement, customer-focused sales initiatives, redundancy reduction, or advancing technical innovations that allowed for the above. Within the IT division, we were given opportunities to increase our technical expertise, including paid training and cross-application learning."

What don't you like about working at Home Shopping Network?

"It was a very top-heavy organization. I had more managers than co-workers at times.Management never publicly recognized individual/group achievements, but was quick to criticize when things didn't go as planned."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It makes more sense to allow developers and their project planners to come up with time estimates for projects, than to have upper management 'throw a dart at a calendar' and dictate when a project must be completed by. Understandably, there are times when the calendar must dictate the expediency of a project, such as a go-live implementation that affects numerous internal or external systems, but there were also projects that were planned based on a budget before analysis was even performed."
