"My only complaint about being a GRA is the lack of funding the school has for work. The GRAs do not seem to have as much control or insight into funding and budgets. This limits foresight in purchasing and spending needed for research."

"Being a graduate research assistant allows a lot of flexibility as far as a schedule is concerned. That being said, expect to work more than 40 hours a week if you plan on finishing your degree in any reasonable amount of time. Stipend typically cover's living expenses but don't expect to be able to save money or comfortably support a family with the stipend. Go to grad school only if you really love what you are studying. It is nothing like undergrad and is not an extension of college."
