"Teaching was a fantastically rewarding experience. You learn so much about each others' cultures and language and you learn how to effectively communicate in multiple ways."

"Learn Japanese, keep an open mind, gain the students' respect and they will listen to you, and keep trying different lesson plans."

What don't you like about working at Altia Central?

"There was no upward mobility and no opportunities for growth inside the company unless you changed from working in a classroom to working in an office."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create contracts that last longer than 1 year at a time, and a better system so that employees have a higher rank within the system to strive for motivating them to be better teachers."

What do you like about working at GEOS Languages Plus?

"You can't replace the experience of cultural exchange you get with GEOS; They do offer a lot of aid getting you started, and encourage you to develop personal relationships with the students, something missing from most other schools of this type."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be prepared to adapt. Aside from the basic skills you need to have to speak in public and be understood, GEOS seems to look for people who prove quick to understand their mistakes and show that they have corrected them."

What don't you like about working at GEOS Languages Plus?

"The schools tend to lean heavily on teachers to sell all the supplementary materials; if you just signed up to teach, know that sales are an important part of your job too."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I found the native English speaking staff to be helpful and interested in your concerns; most problems stemmed from the Japanese side of business management. It would be helpful to new teachers to get a quick course on the best way to support and navigate the foreign (to us) management."
