"They'll treat you like a regrettable expenditure but it pays the bills and you can gain valuable experience in their I.T. department. It's a place to gain experience and then move on."

"General disdain, from top-down, of staff. Low salary, limited upward mobility and any movement is politically-motivated."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"This company would benefit from an overall philosophy change concerning work conditions and value placed on staff. Unfortunately, management can do nothing about it and they'll say I'm preaching to the choir. Only one person can make this change and it's just not the way he views things."

"DON'T DO IT. ETC is PROUD of their 100% yearly turnover of direct employees and their 40% yearly turnover for exempts (including engineers)."

"mciromanagement coupled with extraordinary distrust/hatred of other companies, as well as people in general, and especially towards employees."

"It's not 1988 anymore...learn to trust or at least accept a differing view."

"I enjoy managing and developing new business opportunities and strategies for a service provider specializing in satellite communication services for consumers, subcontractors and retailers. My department serves some of our vital internal existing and new customers. I feel great satisfaction that I do my job so well and that it makes such contribution to others departments and ultimately to the bottom line."

"You must have high energy and must be willing to learn and adept to new changes and processes."

What don't you like about working at EchoStar?

"It's not that I disliked anything about my job; in fact, I really enjoyed it. If I had to say something along those lines, I guess Id just say that there were so many opportunities to provide new types of customer service through products and solutions, and I just couldnt pursue them all. Of course, I took great satisfaction in achieving and exceeding existing goals, but I sometimes wished there were more hours in a day to pursue new opportunities."

"The job at Echostar Technologies allowed me to network with other programmers and really experience a programming/engineering job."

"The corporate culture was unusually oppressive. When you met or went beyond expectation there was little to no recognition. But if you failed to any degree it was held over you. The owners and founders attitude was If you don't like it there's the door"

"You will retain and motivate employees if you recognize and show some appreciation and respect for the work they do. Also, management should manage down not up to the next highest level of management."
