What do you like about working at Big Lots?

"There was nothing enjoyable about the job. It was high stress and they did not give you enough payroll hours for what they wanted done."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask about the amount of payroll given. Ask how long it takes to unload and put out a truck. They will tell you two days but most stores work on it all week. Ask about task Manager and how many projects corp. office puts on per week. On top of running the store I was getting 100 extra tasks that had dead line dates. I didn't have the payroll to get them done. Noone did. People ended up signing off on tasks they didn't do to stay out of trouble. Every store manager has all these problems. If you suck op to your Dist. Manager they will give you extra hours. Some store managers who lived near the Dist manager and saw her all the time, would get 150+ extra hours a week. Hours that should have been shared with all the stores."

What don't you like about working at Big Lots?

"Everything. They don't care about the employee's or the tools you need to get the job done. Most of the Dist. Managers on up have never worked in a Big Lots Store. They have no idea. My first year my Dist. Manager spent 4 1/2 hours total in my store. Only saw her when she thought her boss was going to visit."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make sure the stores had the hours they needed to get the job done. Make sure people were trained. Bring in Dist. Managers and LP managers that know what there doing."

"Big Lots was good when you could manage and not be a manager that was a stockperson."
