"Some quarters, you would have a full workload and then other quarters you would have no classes."

"I don't have any suggestions for this management. Everyone was great."

"I liked the prestige of working at a school with a great reputation and the support and latitude that I received from my supervisors."

"Ask that you and your supervisor agree on a timeline for additional courses or checkpoints leading to a full-time assignment."

"There was not much of an opportunity to teach more than one class per semester or grow into a full time position."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"It would have been good to have a little more classroom supervision and feedback. I appreciated the trust but would like to have learned more from experienced educators."

"Seeing my students enjoy the subject and gaining in knowledge. Excellent felling to see them achieve and grow."

"Is the profession of teaching to be one of passion or just another job. Passion means that one will go beyond the basics of teaching the subject and provide the extra desire to help others learn."

"Restricted growth when working as an adjunct and subject to course availability. Some institutes rate performance on number of students that dropped out of class rather than achievement."

"Students do not always know what they need or what they want to do as a life endeavour, terminating an education is part of life and must not be held against the instructor."

"I did not like that there were not more classes that were availabel for the students to take."

"I would suggest the the administration add more classes to the curriculum."

"Find out how you are evaluated and, if faculty, how the Dean's criteria match (or don't) match with the criteria you are provided by the department for which you work."

"Former colleagues who were bullies, administrators who don't follow procedure for evaluating employees"

"Follow the rules for evaluating employees, not allow people to violate procedures"

"The lowering of standards in order to attract and retain students."

"Re-evaluate the long-term impact that short-term quick fixes can have on quality and reputation."

"I have a job. Many of the most talented students come from poor neighborhoods, which makes me feel needed."

What don't you like about working at College of Southern Nevada?
"Adjuncts make $2k for each course after taxes. The salary rate posted here looks unreal. Adjuncts are allowed to teach three courses per semester. Do the math (definitely not 26k).Adjunct have to beg for every single class. Secretaries assign the classes and full-timers can bump adjunct any time.Written and oral requirements often do not match.Policies are set by administrators whose only interest is to keep themselves needed.Most classrooms have no windows and the wall-to-wall carpets are musty."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"(1) I would offer full-time positions to adjunct instructors who have successfully worked for the college for years.(2) I would eliminate unnecessary/abortive programs and lower salaries for high-ranking administrators. I would prepare a balance sheet that would keep only profitable programs alive.(3) Lower the administrative load on teachers."

"Education is a rewarding field. When you see the light go on as a student gains understanding, the feeling is amazing."

"Be honest. Don't try to embellish skills that are not mastered."

"Grant funded programs are inconsistent and not stable. Most of my teaching opportunities were based on external business."

"Allowing instructors to assist in text selection could be advantageous to both the client and instructor."

"The Dean wasn't there a lot, it was a night class."

"Have counselors available at night for students. Need more paid office time for adjuncts"
