"I don't like increased responsibility with not enough hours to cover projects. There is not enough burden busters."

"Add more payroll to the store. This will increase sales. The staffing matrix does not match increase and decrease in sales."

"It's a basic interviewing process, and they always need cashiers. As long as you can count - you're in!"

"There was no growth opportunities within the retail market segment."

"The only real suggestion I have is a better line of communication."

"I have a good boss. I like the fact that I am not micromanaged."

"You have to really like doing the work, because you won't be highly paid. You don't get to take a lot of time off, due to the low amount of hours given to the stores."

"The pay for internal promotions is much lower than outside hires. Bonuses are much lower than other retailers. The company does not conduct random or pre-employment drug screening. The cost for medical insurance is very high."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Start drug screening, and pay competitive wages for internal promotions."

What do you like about working at PETCO?

"I love coming in to work every day because I get to meet new people every day, as well as deal with different situations needing different resolutions. The customers are the reason I go in to work with a smile on my face."

"Every store has different growth opportunities. It is based on the GM and what becomes available at that specific store."

What don't you like about working at PETCO?

"There is not enough of a challenge in my position."

"There is always a new way of doing things, and every day I would see what can be done differently, to try and better my company every day. I would take ideas and suggestions from the people that work the front line, because I have come to realize that the people you have on the front line usually have the best ideas."

"The company was poor at caring for its employees, and seemed to make wrong choices financially."

"Enhance their training program, giving management more hours to train new employees."

"Ask for the most money possible up front, and how they would feel if you wanted to advance upward through the company."

"The compensation was subpar, and raises and incentives other than opportunities for advancement were poor."

"Streamline processes. There are far too many people doing multiple processes - an incredible amount of rework."

"I enjoy working with the associates on the floor. They really know the job brings a different look to what they do a lot of times."

"I just recommend that the interviewee be bilingual (Spanish) and be willing to hear and address the workers' views and recommendations at all times."

"I don't like the hours and sometimes lack of support from human resource in associate relations."

"Create less paperwork for the supervisors so they can spend more time with the associates and improving the process."
