"Get rid of underperforming people on both business side and IT side."

"I would say be flexixble and be willing to accept a lot of change."

"It is a great compnay but I want a bigger challenge with sales."

"The mangement is new. Buy.com was recently taken over by a Japanese company."

"The bonding between employees were very good. Besides that, nothing much."

What do you like about working at Buy.com?

"I worked closely with the CTO Rob Brock who was always looking for new technologies and approaches to improve the site. As his chief architect, I had a great deal of freedom to build new technologies and approaches for each country I rolled out. I architected the Canada, UK, France, Germany, and Australia sites and with eac site I added new features that were rolled back to previous countries, including the US. I was an hourly contractor and the company gave me cash and stock bonuses which is rare for a contractor."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"After 10 years I have no idea who is still there or what the culture is."

What don't you like about working at Buy.com?

"There was a great deal of conflict between the CIO and CTO and between upper managers for each division (i.e., Computers, Books, music, etc). Very little cooperation between managers who were more interested in empire building."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It has been 10 years and I am sure things have changed there. I have no suggestions."

"I liked the challenge of always working with new technologies, and the great staff that I worked with."

"Upper management was sometimes unaware of the complications of innovation and time requirement of stability."

"low pay, little recognition, poor management, departmental conflicts"

"Its a small company by headcount, and departments which should be very intertwined are completely separated."
