"A store manager assumes a great deal of the day-to-day operations of a business. The manager typically hires and manages a sales and inventory staff, oversees daily deposits and often is required to open and close the store. Sales records, inventory control, ordering supplies and customer service usually add to the daily responsibilities. While the job can be overwhelming, there are various advantages to taking the helm as a store manager. As a store manager, you have the opportunity to wear a number of hats and maintain flexibility in your duties. In addition to managing the staff, you are responsible for financial accounting at the end of your shift. You may be required to order inventory and keep track of sales to ensure you have sufficient products on hand. You interact with customers, helping solve problems when they occur. You often play a role in settling disputes among the staff. As a leader, you set the tone for the operations, making it a more enjoyable place for you to work as well."

"Both jobs were fun. Didn't like working more hours then the Manager when I was the Assistant manager. I always got stuck working the second shift, unless I had something to do that night I got a morning shift. CSR position was rewarding. Got more out of it respect wise then being the Assistant Manager. It truly is ashame working all those years and only making 16.00 an hour."

He is demeaning to employees and often talks about his political affiliation to the far-right branch of the Republican party. Menards in Louisville has lost several assistant managers and a concerning percentage of workers under the reign of Hilfiker. If you go into our neighboring Lowe's or Home Depot and ask for former employees of Menards, you will hear stories about his leadership that begs the question of his ability to lead."
