Working at Zerve in New York City, NY: 8 Employee Reviews

"I've worked at Zerve for more than 8 months now and all I can say is wow! This play is a great place to work at and easily accessible! Everyone is friendly and we seem to operate on the same wavelength. At the same time, managers act like managers, and we respect them highly because they operate with great accountability!"

"Senior management is good; it's just support supervisors who are petty weak."

What do you like about working at Zerve?

"The company is okay for the service it provides. There are some nice people to chat with and then there are those that have no personality."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Avoid the company. You can gain more exposure working with an established company with experienced supervisors, not just college students who think they are experienced because they have a few more weeks under their belt."

What don't you like about working at Zerve?

"I think the 5th reviewer on this post said it all. The reviewer stated he/she is a supervisor and they have a young staff level which is great. For a supervisor to make an age discrimination comment like that tells you that the company, Zerve, does not train its supervisors in labor laws. There is one supervisor in particular that is very rude, speaks 100 miles per hour and lacks personality and people relationship. She is in the New York office and lets the title of a supervisor go to her head. I was anticipating Fridays, because she was not in the office. Many of the staff forget they are their as customer service representatives, but just because one is here a month longer, they think they have seniority. It's not only funny, but shows that they have a mentality that hasn't yet developed. This is not the real world exposure, but when they get to that level, they better braise tight. LOL."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management needs to be more considerate of the very low hourly wage they give, and weigh that against the expectations they have of their employees. Every day there is a new policy on one or more accounts. It's hard to do your job with policy after policy after policy. Realize you are running a business with INTERNS not experienced employees. $10 an hour can only go so far."

"Extremely poor. One of the worst jobs I have ever had."

What do you like about working at Zerve?

"The other customer service reps and college interns on the whole were an intelligent and friendly group of people. Everything else about the company and position was abysmal."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't. There are other jobs out there. If you insist on interviewing with Zerve, then negotiate a great starting pay rate/salary and a schedule that works for you. Otherwise, you will be sorry."

What don't you like about working at Zerve?

"- The starting salary is very low, and any raises you receive are not much of an improvement.- The schedules are difficult to cope with, with some morning shifts and some night shifts. A typical schedule for new employees almost always involves one shift in which you work until 10 PM, followed by an 8 AM shift the following day. - The job ad makes it seem like an exciting travel and leisure/technology company, but the reality is that you are working at a call center, answering the phone non-stop all day while attempting to complete other projects on the side. Doing any task while answering a telephone every five minutes is frustrating and positively unproductive.- The office always seems to be understaffed, meaning that you feel chained to your desk because the phones never stop ringing and you get chewed out if you miss your turn to pick up a call. - You have to call out bathroom loudly every single time you need to run to the restroom. This is an embarrassing and very juvenile thing to have to do at your place of employment.- Most employees eat lunch at their desks while answering phones every few minutes because there is no lunch/break area. If you are sitting at your desk you HAVE to answer the phone, so most employees choked their food down while picking up calls. This was one of the most frustrating, saddening and inhumane aspects of working for this company.- Due to the understaffed office, you are strongly discouraged from ever calling out sick even if you are very ill. - There are ZERO holidays at this company as they are open 365 days a year. You may have to celebrate New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Passover, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and/or Christmas at work.- There is no HR department at this company, leading employees to feel lost when needing to report something they are concerned about and/or dissatisfied with.- Employees work insane amounts of unpaid overtime. All full-time staff work close to 60 hour weeks at this company with no overtime compensation.- The tiny office that I primarily worked in had no windows and was extremely depressing.- New employees come and go quite frequently, and the high employee turnover is not surprising considering how poorly managed the company is.- There was a lot of resentment in the office directed at management due to their inability to inspire the staff, and a lack of transparency.- I strongly suspect that the positive reviews for Zerve on this site are not genuine."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create an HR department. Create a lunch area/room so that employees can eat their lunch in peace. Request honest feedback from your employees and be open to critiques about the work environment and management style in order to improve work conditions at Zerve. Your business may be profitable and growing, but your employees are very unhappy."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Management values independence, but make sure to show that you can work as a team."

What don't you like about working at Zerve?

"Great experience. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work there."

What do you like about working at Zerve?

"Zerve is a fun company. The team is young, smart, down to earth, and ambitious. In my years at this company, I dealt with every type of situation and client imaginable, and grew a ton as a professional and as a person. My boss was a fantastic mentor."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It sounds corny, but you get out of it what you put in. Work hard and you can really go far at Zerve. Also, if you get hired, don't fall off the radar of the person who was your main contact during the interview process. If you are able to impress that person and cultivate a good working relationship with him/her, s/he could become a real mentor for you. This could really help if you are interested in moving up and doing well at the company. (And if you're not interested in those things, move along! Zerve is not the place for you.)"

What don't you like about working at Zerve?

"Sometimes it gets really busy. I didn't always love this, but I gotta admit it was a rush! Good time management skills and ability to prioritize (among many other skills, to be sure) are a must to work at Zerve."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Maybe consider creating one of those fun and games rooms for employees to take breaks. I think people work better when they are able to really take a mental vacation during a break and come back refreshed."

"Fantastic team and great opportunities for growth!"

What do you like about working at Zerve?

"When I interviewed at Zerve, I was impressed by the smart yet fun team and the opportunities to take on really exciting challenges even at a young age. The company has consistently delivered on these two things in the years I've been here! My coworkers are an amazing group of people who are both very hardworking and fun to hang out with, and the office is really a community. I've gotten opportunities to take on really interesting and challenging projects here that friends at other companies don't - if you work hard here, you get a lot of cool opportunities!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Zerve's team combines hard work and high standards for ourselves and each other with a fun, relaxed environment. If that sounds like you, I'd encourage you to apply and share that in your interview!"

What don't you like about working at Zerve?

"Well, there's nothing I don't like! But I think the one thing people sometimes don't like here is that you get out what you put in - people who want to coast along in their job aren't going to be happy here. Personally I think that makes our team culture much more enjoyable, but it's not for everyone."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep it up! The management keeps the team updated on major company goals so that we know how our work impacts the company, and they also give us the support to do our jobs well but the space to manage our work independently."
