"Yahoo provided opportunities to learn and move up within the company quickly. In under 2 years I was promoted twice (to leadership positions). I was also able to help promote change and lead in a cross-functional leadership role."

"One of the difficult situations at Yahoo was the lack of innovation at the upper management level and the multiple re-organizations."

"Innovate! And think outside the box. Yahoo needs to be a leader, and not following trends set by other companies."

"Don't be afraid to ask questions, even the hard ones. Employees will be frank and answer to the best of their abilities."

"The tools we had to use were limited in functionality. There was also a lack of cohesiveness in the toolsets available, with multiple properties using different tools, very few of which were driven by a centralized tools team."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Focus. Multiple times projects were taken up, only to be dropped... then picked up again, then summarily dropped... and picked up yet again. This is a waste of resources and money."

"Yahoo! provides so many opportunties for me to grow in managing projects. The matrix environment allowed me to work globally while building working relationships with managers in advertising, operations and engineering that carry through on other assignments at Y!"

"I do believe that communication to employees can has improved. This was the one thing the company worked on very hard."

"Management can keep staff aware of upcoming changes. Change is hard for teams and regrouping presents different challenges."

"The quarterly rhythm when everything is re oriented if no profit is shown during a quarter."

"Better business model and business decision, be aware of the competition and rethink the services - be really innovative."

"It was boring, I don't care much for advertising. Required no creativity at all and everyone there was selfish."

"I didn't care for any of the executives at Yahoo!, all they said was fluff."

"It is a good place to start with. People here are really good!"

"None really. Make sure you do your algorithms well. Also, prepare CSS and JS."

"Lots of friction in getting stuff done. It hampers progress."

"Company should have road map for at least 2 years and cannot re-org multiple times regular intervals. Employees lose confidence."

"No reviews for managers. Project planning should be accepted be even with team members."
