"I love working at Beaumont Hospital. People are very helpful and friendly. It feels like a second home."

Clinical Engineering Intern

"I worked as an intern for Beaumont Health System located in Royal Oak Michigan for 4 months. I worked as a Clinical Engineering Intern. As a Clinical Engineer, I was responsible for the management of the Medical Devices and any surrounding responsibilities of Medical Devices in a hospital. I reviewed device malfunctions or adverse effects and determine what needs to be done next. I was responsible for keeping in contact with manufacturers and regulatory governing bodies such as the FDA and Insurance companies. The Clinical Engineering team brings our expertise to review boards for device approval or clinical trial approval for medical devices. As a team we asses Quality System Reports Review for the hospital on a weekly basis to ensure the safety and efficacy of hospital practices. As a team we perform Joint Commission Inspections to ensure the hospital is operating as per standards."

Nursing Assistant

"This was a great learning experience for me considering I am working towards my bachelors degree in pre-medicine"

What do you like about working at William Beaumont Hospital?

"It was a great learning experience for me. I got to learn hands on medical professional experience on a daily basis, which helped me as I was attending college for my bachelors degree in pre-med, and I feel that because of my job here, I was able to learn above and beyond all of my classmates who did not have this opportunity because learning how to become a medical professional, the best way is to have that hands on real life experience because you can not fully grasp what it takes from simply reading text books and attending lectures."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be prepared to be challenged both physically and emotionally. Remember to always put yourself in the shoes of your patients, and remember to remind yourself that you are there to help others, not necessarily to keep up with unreasonable and in times unethical pressures to be more efficient if it in fact compromises the quality of care that you are able to give each and every patient. Dont loose track of what is most important, and that is the integrity and care of the patients and not to impress anyone no matter their status as an employer or employee. Also, be prepared to experience and witness some of the hardest emotional circumstances, and not let yourself get too emotionally attached no matter the circumstance to any particular patient, because that will then lower your ability to perform the necessary tasks in giving each and every patient equal and exceptional care to the best of your ability, which you will find in the end, is the most important aspect of any medical position."

What don't you like about working at William Beaumont Hospital?

"There was a lot of unnecessary drama between the employees, and the hospital in my personal opinion, as most hospitals have now, became more concerned with the capitalist aspects as opposed to the more important aspects which are taking care of the patients, and their personal needs and feelings. The hospital laid off numerous employees for what I viewed as unnecessary financial reasons such as flat screen Tv's in every patient room and bigger employee lounges. I am interested in being a medical professional for reasons like helping people, and taking care of those who are sick and need our help to get better, or simply to be comfortable, not because of the financial cost those patients have to pay for that necessary care. I realize that it costs a lot of money for most medical procedures, but the profit on those services is in my opinion, much too high and it shows how greedy we have become in this country. With that said, I would prefer that such institutions were ran with more compassionate motives in mind and that the medical workers were most importantly shown much more appreciation than they actually are for what they do, and that I believe, would solve any negative stigmas which I feel are involved in the business. I choose to bartend instead of working as a nursing assistant, not because I didnt love my job and what I was doing which was helping those less fortunate than i, but because I felt mistreated and unappreciated on a daily basis, to the point which I felt an extreme amount of unnecessary stress and resentment towards the hospital in general."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"To take more time to recognize the courageous and honorable efforts of every employee, and realize that they could one day be a patient in a hospital and to think of how they would want to be cared for, and how that care can be compromised not just by their personal medical professional whom they are receiving care, but from the backlash of how that particular medical professional has to endure the pressures of their higher authority."

What don't you like about working at William Beaumont Hospital?

"a lot of layoffs lately/ no security, loss of benefits, lack of good management, no common company direction, politics and favoritizem are the norm."

"stop chasing there tail and make one swift layoff or budget cut, and stop putting the fear of layoffs/cuts onto there current employees all the time. stop middle management from always playing politics."

Reference Lab Courier

"Part-time employee, ability to have benefits."

What do you like about working at William Beaumont Hospital?

"The professional job growth opportunity"
