"I ended up leaving WGRZ after 4 years with them as a Multimedia Producer. I found that while there are a lot of talented, well-seasoned journalists in that room, there were also a lot of things that drove away young talent. I felt there was a lot of favoritism and different treatment for different people. For a room full of communicators, internal communication, more often than not, was not good. Management ascended through the ranks without really being able to effectively manage or lead people. I found they lacked empathy and compassion in most instances, and because of that, it ended up being a rather toxic environment. It felt like "every man for themselves" kind of environment. Certain people were worked into the ground, while some frequently got away with less than stellar work and just straight-up laziness. There was hardly any work-life balance. It was looked down upon to use sick time, take breaks, or even leave on time."
