"You need to like political environment if you work in this company."

"Too political in engineering process."

"Keep simple environment for engineers."

"Communication about strategic plans and competition. Everyone kept in the loop during good times. It is quite different during lean times and riffs."

"It is always the same for large companies."

What don't you like about working at Western Digital?

"HR group always changing. Personnel always changing ,making support system shaky."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Investing into large remodels,new manufacturing facilities in the far east and exhorbitant salaries at the top make for interesting times . Where were the same planners when the economy hit rock bottom are they still employed by WDC Oh,don't worry we will just cut and layoff our largest expense, the employees....."

What do you like about working at Western Digital?

"General Digital had some excellent technical work with some interesting caveats. General Digital lacked a site facility clearance so all the work was sanitized to the unclassified level. Most employees were moonlighters who wrote test plans and procedures while guessing at the actual use. It was akin to solving technical mystery novels. Great fun until they stopped getting contracts."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Act like you enjoy writing mystery procedures."

What don't you like about working at Western Digital?

"I felt that we were wasting the resources of those who contracted General Digital for its services. We could have been a very productive partner if someone at General Digital had been briefed into the actual work and so could provide sanitized but relevant information to the coders and testers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"General Digital should have gotten a facility clearance so that management could be briefed into the contracted work."
