"Greed destroying a once great company"

What do you like about working at Watts Water Technologies?

"Great people, excellent and diverse product line, company has been around for more than 100 years"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be aware that outsourcing is taking over the company, so keep that in mind. Nobody is safe in a business model like that, everyone can be replaced. Watts used to be a great company to work for, today it's just another company firmly held in the tight, cold grip of greed."

What don't you like about working at Watts Water Technologies?

"Outsourcing all of IT to external companies even though it is costing them 4-5 times more per year and resulting in less getting done at a higher cost. A Boston area newspaper uncovered that during the economic downturn in 2008/2009 their upper brass were getting larger bonuses, pay raises and still driving around in company paid luxury cars while handing out layoffs, pay cuts, wage freezes and slashing bonuses for the rest of the company. On top of that the company cut how much they paid towards the employee health plan and now employees have to cough up more $$$ for health coverage. So add that on top of the fact that many employees working there make less today than when they first started."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"When asking your people to tighten their belt and do more with less, asking them to sacrifice their bonus and pay raises for the good of the company, try leading by example for a change. So give up your fancy company paid luxury vehicle, give yourself the 5-10% mandatory pay cut, halt your own bonus if you're telling everyone else to go without."

VP of Development

What do you like about working at Watts Water Technologies?

"Having a phenomenal portfolio to work with and closing many transactions. I also loved networking within the industry."

What don't you like about working at Watts Water Technologies?

"Too many checks and balances in place which bogged many transactions down and ultimately lost. Prior to my leaving I implented new strategies to help move this along faster."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Only hire those who genuinely love working with people who can work in a multI tasked environment and be able to make progressiv decisions. Also only hire those who can communicate very well. That includes the written and verbal. Inclusive of this, hire those who have been properly trained in negotiations and are experts in knowing how to negotiate the three phases of a close including expertise in open ended and closed in questioning. Hire those who love working in a team environment where ideas and creativity can be generated and utilized. Stay away from ego problems and reward your employees with positive reinforcement when earned. This will instill trust and increase your profits."

Executive Assistant

What do you like about working at Watts Water Technologies?

"Co-workers all get along very well. They are very appreciative of any assistance I can lend."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask lots of questions, otherwise, you'll be on your own to find your way."

What don't you like about working at Watts Water Technologies?

"Unless one is willing to relocate to MA, there is no growth opportunity."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stand behind the Values and Mission Statement that hangs in every office."

"I worked for Watts Water for almost three years. Until COVID-19, I'd planned on retiring from this company because of the management at the Groveport location and the opportunity to continue to have a positive impact on the performance of the distribution center. The compensation was excellent and the direction of the company from my point of view is on target. My boss and his boss are very reasonable and will listen to logic even if it doesn't correlate with their point of view at that time."
