Assistant Manager

"Unbelievably bad ethics when it comes to upper management respect for employees."

What do you like about working at The Walking Co.?

"The people I interacted and worked with on a daily basis."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This job can be beneficial if you plan on only being there for a short time as a part time sales associate. If not, stay as far away from it as you possibly can. Also, beware that you'll need to check your pay check in full detail because they will try to cheat you any chance they get and then take weeks to respond to your inquiry once you realize their mistake."

What don't you like about working at The Walking Co.?

"Their disorganization and upper management's lack of employee respect. I was fired without a reason and without any termination papers. Force employees to make impossible goals that change frequently making them increase when you've had a good previous month, but never decrease when traffic is down. If you fail to bow down and worship higher level management you can count on being fired without just cause despite the fact that discrimination based on personal feelings of a person is illegal. They force employees to push orthotics and their exclusive brands onto every customer despite what the customer's needs may be. Employees are told to scan every customers feet with a digital foot analysis machine that fails to work on a constant basis. On top of this, they insist that it will wow the customer and basically distract them from realizing that you haven't been trained on how to help them. This machine supposedly helps an employee determine what type of footwear to suggest to a customer, but how it does this is never explained. It tells you their arch type that could be seen by looking at the customer's feet and a guess of size that could have been provided by the customer. In other words, the thing that is highly relied on is absolutely useless, but if you don't obey the command to use it on every customer you'll get written up."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Honestly, you would be better off getting rid of most of the upper management personnel and starting from the ground up."
