Vodafone is a British multinational telecommunications company. Vodafone was founded on September 16, 1991 when Racal telecom was split into two entities now known as Racal Electronics and Vodafone. The current Chief Executive Officer of the company is Gerry Whent. Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, Vodafone offers consumers worldwide with products that include landlines, mobile phones, internet services and digital televisions.
As of 2011, Vodafone is the world’s second-largest mobile telecommunications company, based on their revenue and number of subscribers; which numbers to roughly 439 million subscribers as of December 2011. Vodafone generated 46.417 billion pounds in revenue for fiscal year 2011.
Vodafone currently employs over 86,000 individuals.
