Project Release Manager
in Arlington, VA

"Stressful."

What do you like about working at Verizon Communications?

"The one good thing I enjoyed while working at Verizon was its very generous continuing education program. The company paid up front the full cost of any accredited program an employee chose to attend, as long as it was a business or IT related program. There were no limits to how much the company paid for a program. Of course this program was too good to be true and the program dramatically changed."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Know exactly what you're getting into. It is a cut-throat environment."

What don't you like about working at Verizon Communications?

"Everything is about the bottom line. There have been layoffs/RIFs (Reduction in Force) since 2000. Morale is awful. There is a general feeling that management doesn't care about its employees and views them as bodies and numbers."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Invest in your employees. View them as persons. Over the years Verizon has lost a number of technical talent and knowledge through indiscriminate RIFs and defections."
