"As an individual contributor things were pretty good for me until around 2019. A new "heavy handed" high level manager was hired and numerous engineers and some good managers were let go for spurious reasons. This changed the atmosphere dramatically. Everyone was in fear that maybe they would be next. Ventana is a decent place but there have been a few managers that got away with treating people poorly for far too long before they themselves were let go. Marketing makes far too many decisions ignoring the input from the scientists and engineers. This resulted in a number of failures and where scientists and engineers were blamed for not speaking up and the marketing people were promoted. There was supposed to be a culture of speaking up but everyone was aware there might be consequences if you did."

"fellow employees were very eazy to work with and every body worked as a team"

"suck up seems the only way to get any kind of advancement"

"the location was very, very far from my home (far)"

"Let employees have more to say than just being another body"

"It was important work and I had great visibility through the organization and executives. People liked an appreciated my contributions."

"Other than key scientists, a lot of who they hire is on a temp basis. Find out when the conversion decision is made and try to time that date for earlier in the year when budget pressures are less."

"I was not able to continue as a permanent employee due to budget and funding issues."

"Find some more money and hire me full time. That is really about it, Ventana was a great place to work."

"I would reorganize several of the departments and create better work/issue flow."

"The only thing I could seriously take issue with at my current employer is the lack of a clearly defined way to progress professionally."

"To clarify what each employee could do to be promoted and/or to develop a compensation plan that is directly tied to employee performance."

"management was combative at times. Some of the old management team was more interested in appearing to be aggressive than just focusing on the problem and moving forward"

"Most of the management has changes with the exception of someone like Andrew G. who is really destructive. Decent people sometimes are unappreciated and are not offered chances to progress based on competency."
