"The company owner is from China and replaced all management with Chinese personnel that can barely speak or understand English, several lawsuits for copywright infringement and contract failures."

What do you like about working at The Vanguard Group?

What don't you like about working at The Vanguard Group?
"Salary was not nearly as good as industry competitors. Working in a call center can get repetitive and frankly dull. No compensation for exemplary performance. Glass ceiling for advancement (at least at the Charlotte location), management was in complete disconnect with employees. From a sales perspective, they are about 3 or 4 years in terms of getting new business and attracting people compared to everyone else they compete with. In general really disagree with how they run their business and feel they are confused on if they want to be a low cost sales company or quality service."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Listen to employees before making sweeping decisions to change workflow and how we do business. Implementing new roles with little or no training time beforehand made us look bad with clients. Also, consider better pay and less of a babysitter or leash mentality. A happy worker does well. No one likes to feel every move they make or word they say is going to be criticized. Getting things done was WAY too micromanaged and basically felt like employees have lack of empowerment."
"Vanguard is a large company that still has the values and personality of a small company."
"Growing company with growing pains, manufacturing dept was fire drill every day."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"A good employer if you are looking for a company that has a good reputation."
"It was great experience to work with this company."
"Great experience for the summer."
"The company has great pay, but no growth opportunity."
What do you like about working at The Vanguard Group?
"Convienent to home, short commute. Good benefit package, salary was decent."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"New CEO took over, which is a good thing. And the Senior VP of the Individual Investor division was forced into retirement - another good move. Interview if you must - be very professional. VG culture is exceedingly uptight - suit and tie at all times!"
What don't you like about working at The Vanguard Group?
"Very long work hours (12 hour days were typical - at least 3 days a week), very political work environment for ANYONE in a management position. Some senior managers, division heads are simply SOCIOPATHS. Be careful whom you confide in."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Less sociopaths! No, really. Seriously. There were several that I used to have to deal with. Lose the rack n stack performance appraisal system. Being forced to rate 10% of my staff as not meeting standards in order to meet a quota, and only being able to rate 10% of my staff as outstanding to meet a quota just simply SUCKS."
