What do you like about working at Vanderbilt University?

"What I liked was NOT about working at Vanderbilt, but the people I was there to help, the patients. I found it to be a tumultuous experience as a result of a negative culture that was born and bred long before I arrived at the echo lab. I have never experienced such animosity and negativity as I did during my time there."

What don't you like about working at Vanderbilt University?

"I have been in this profession for nearly 20 years and prior to coming to Vanderbilt, I have worked at the most prestigious clinic in the world, the Mayo Clinic. I have won numerous awards and accolades and accomplished many, many things during my career without one moment of adversity or negativity. Coming to Vanderbilt was not only a HUGE mistake, but an eye opening experience regarding the total lack and disregard for mutual respect and and professionalism. I have never in my life seen or experienced the degrading, disrespectful, prejudicial treatment of employees directly from an immediate supervisor as I experienced and witnessed in the echo lab at Vanderbilt. Not only did this treatment occur and occur repeatedly, it was well know, documented and CONDONED by administration and others in position of authority even when approached to have something done about the situation."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I have no suggestions. Look in the mirror andlive with what you create. The echo lab has been known to allow such negative treatment and behavior to take place and blatantly refuses to do anything about it at the expense of the employees. I find it appalling that an institution trying to be one of the top institutions in their field turns a blind eye and ALLOWS such behavior to take place. I will say to anyone that I am ASHAMED to say that I worked at Vanderbilt after having experienced TRUE professionalism and respect for employees while at the Mayo Clinic. There is a huge discrepancy and I caution anyone seriously considering employment there at the echo lab at Vanderbilt to look elsewhere."
