"Critical Race Theory is alive at UTMB. Students and employees are forced to take training that accuses all white people of being "oppressors" and "privileged" and "people of color" as being oppressed and victims. This is racist and a violation of civil rights."

.NET Developer

"I have worked for University of Texas Medical Board for a little over two years. UTMB is a great organization to work for, which facilitates the right kind of synergy between learning and progress in the day to day life of a software developer. The company has a lot of things to take pride on, which starts from proving employees with the right kind of knowledge and continues to reach to it's core principals in Texas medical arena. The company continually strives and achieves the golden mark as it progress through it's own record of success. It is a great place to work for."

"All I can say is you are a state worker. Boss closed his door to his office and stayed there for hours. Majority of coworkers were overpaid and did not understand true work. Hospital was dirty and old. Lots of empty space. UTMB will pay you a descent salary but if you truly value work avoid this place. Cronyism is everywhere within the facility. If you decide to work here expect slow results and disappointment. However you will have lots of vacation and leave everyday at five."

UTMB Employee

"The University needs a COMPLETE OVERHAUL from the Top Down!"

What do you like about working at UTMB?

"I like the kind of work I was hired to do when I was allowed to do it. I liked the people I worked with. I liked working for my immediate supervisor. I liked the volunteer opportunities they offer. I liked the commute."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be sure to take the job description to the interview with you and thoroughly understand what it is they are hiring you for. If the interviewers can not or will not make eye contact, continue seeking employment somewhere else. As a lot of questions for clarification."

What don't you like about working at UTMB?

"Management is not on tract so how can you really expect the subordinates to be on track. Quite a few of the directors in the area I worked in should never be directors. They give no directions, come in late, leave early, depend on others to do their budgeting and paperwork and have no people skills. They don't know how to lead, no management skills but yet want to micro-manage. The university does a lot of wasteful spending but complain there is no money. I think a lot of money can be saved by cutting some of the fat at the top level. I feel that the university does not hire, does not inspire or does no move people up the corporate ladder on what they know, but WHO THEY KNOW. If you voice your opinion as to what is wasteful and should/ should not be done, you are penalized and you may find your name on the list of the next layoff or whatever way they can get you out of there."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I feel the President should take a HARD LOOK at his upper management. Many of them are just there for their fat paychecks and not there to grow the university The university's vision is just written down and looks good on paper. I feel that employees should have the opportunity to rate their supervisors/directors and this evaluation should be sent directly to the President so he can get a really clear picture as to what is going on."
