What do you like about working at United States Steel?

"Blue Cross Blue Shield = Medical coverageNot sure where the other comments from other reviews are coming from, because they were pretty good. Well most of the comments came from PA which is where corporate is located, it's not uncommon that corporate has no clue how the other locations are operating or what employees at other locations are experiencing."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you have served your time for your crime this is a good place to get back on your feet. You will not be able to comsume any illlegal substances be cause they spent lots of money on drug testing, that is the only money they will invest on you. You interview for labor it's a breeze, will just need some hair on your head. They will tell you lots of lies in the interview so know you get nothing be long hours and great insurance. You will also see lots of unfair treatment among the races, yes it still exist. If you want a dead end job this is the place to be. Good luck."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would promote the 1 person who has made the move from manager to leader, the workers really appreciate him, he has displayed a real concern for the workers. I would get rid of some of the original mgrs because they are clueless. For this to be a 100+ year old company, they are still stuck in that time 100+ years ago, maybe 1901. The company has not made a move from having managers to having leaders. This company had allowed us to work with zero training. Only if their customer knew what was going on there with their product, lots of mistake. the company should just reciut us from the jail because they locked us out of they building...yet they use open door policy. they have allowed a union to start there opts mgr of place where I worked was so busy tring to screw the workers contract is a joke. plant opts mgr has not learned his greatest assest would be the people and customers. Mr. CEO did you even care about your houston employees. Again, not sure why such great reviews...most were from managers. Company had great image for always hiring yet there is a revoving door becasuse people always leaving, espeically if their crime not so bad."
