"I've been in the US Air Force for 20 years and will be officially retired 1 December and I wouldn't have given it up for anything. It's because of the Air Force that I am who I am today. The skill set that I have now to offer my next employer isn't anything someone could read in a book."

"Working for the Air Force was one of the most important experiences I have ever had. the leadership teams that I worked with were ones that were always changing and always reinventing itself to adapt to personal and the mission at hand. I was given so many leadership opportunities that I am very thankful for. Those experiences gave me tools to grow and become the empathic and change-driven leader I wanted to become."

"As a student in the Air Force, the community that I was in was comforting. Everyone knew when they needed to get work done but also knew when to just sit back and have fun with the people around them."

"The military just like any company in the civilian sector has its benefits and short comings. The most frustrating aspect of serving is this type of capacity was the bureaucracy of leadership and their tendency to overlook the ideas of lower ranks who are more technically proficient and hands on everyday than they themselves are. My airmen have come to my many times with brilliant ideas that I then relay to leadership above myself only to be shot down by. What I will miss the most about serving is the comradery shared by my team and myself. We are all friends at and outside of work while maintaining a professional atmosphere at the office."

"I enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 2013 and served for a term of six years. In that time I gained valuable training which helped in both my military and civilian life. The flexibility serving in the Reserve offered allowed me to go to school and gain other life experiences while still contributing to something worthwhile. It isn't the right lifestyle for everyone, but for the right person serving in the Reserve can enhance your life and help you take some solid steps towards achieving your goals."
