"Navy Recruiting District Los Angeles is a great place to work. The level of professionalism is high and the staff genuinely cares for one another. Each department works as a cohesive unit to bring high-quality men and women into the Navy. I would recommend working for NRD LA highly."
"Slow to innovate. I came in with advanced degrees but was hired low. Expecting to advance with hard work and new ideas, I got nowhere. Nepotism is rampant, due to the remoteness of the base. The joke phrase, unauthorized productivity, is very accurate. Base facilities are minimal, e.g., I thought a Navy base would encourage swimming, but the pool hours kept shrinking, and the staff was obnoxious. Rather go to a facility or company that encourages innovation and collaboration."
"I have proudly served my country and experienced a lot of different things while I was on Active Duty. The people I learned from as well as taught made me who I am today. One thing that I would tell someone interested in joining is that there are a lot of policies that have to be followed so do not expect to work with latest software updates."
"I have worked for this company for 5 years now. Working for the government can be a rewarding job and although it is not supposed to be a lot of the company is about who you know. I would just like to be in a spot where they look at me for who I am and how I have improved, rather than take what's left after all their friends have their positions."
"I have been in the Navy for 5 years. I would consider the military to be a great stepping stone for someone who is just graduating High School. While being in the Navy I learned a lot of helpful tools and programs. I would recommend this job to young people. The service provided health care and life insurance. While in the military you can learn leadership skills and how to manage a group of people. It also taught me how to work with people and understand people from multiple backgrounds."
"The EKMS Alternate position is cut and dry. My workspace has all the right tools to do the job. We perform a lot of customer service functions to 24 local elements ensuring they get guidance and receive COMSEC materials to complete their jobs and keep circuits activated. There is a lot of reading of policies and instructions involved."
"I was enlisted for 20+ years and made good career of the Navy."
"I have been serving in the US Navy for more that five years now and I am very satisfied with the job experience and work responsibility that the Navy has provided me with. What I have learned in the service makes me want to take it in to the civilian life and help better my career in electronics. I would recommend this job to anyone who is looking for great work and life experience."
"Government work is great. Great people to work with. The location is great and I really enjoyed the job that I was doing there. If it wasn't for family matters I would still be there."
"The Navy was a great career choice."
"I have over 24 years of Service in the US Navy and I am now retired and have had a wonderful and long career with global and international level expertise in my field of Technology and Program Management. I have travelled all over the world and seen and have done many great and wonderful things with my Military Career and would recommend to anyone who wants to join the military that you will have a long and rewarding career if you choose this life and experience. I thank GOD in HEAVEN!! Every day."
"7 years ago when I first enlisted I thought I was doing the right thing, but now due to the vast changes to the work environment, I feel as though its my time to move on into the private sector. The education I received was beyond par so for that I am grateful."
"I have been in the United States Navy since March 2006. The knowledge and experience I have gained during my time is invaluable. The Navy Nuclear Power Program is renowned for it's training and safety record. I am proud to have served my country as a submariner on the mighty USS Connecticut."
"I have been in the Navy since November 1993. I have enjoyed my time in the service and am grateful for the technical skills I have learned while serving. I will use them to further my career outside the Navy. I would highly recommend the Navy to anyone who is interested in the military as a starting point or a career."
