"This company is a good concept in theory. They offer on demand temporary work shifts that you can literally click, accept, show up and get paid "the same week" is the hook. The problem really lies in the fact that there is no real support or accountability when it comes to their operations. There is no one to call when you have questions. Lower level management does the bare minimum when it comes to escalated issues and most correspondence is done via chat. They do not bring problems to a resolve. When issues are brought to Upper Management they are passed back down and it becomes a cycle of unresolved problems. It's seemingly, an easy way to get cheap labor in large quantities. Most jobs are for banquet set up, servers and dishwashers. This work is taxing on your body. Upshift gets paid by companies that need temps on demand, but an easy way out of paying their own temp employees by terminating access to the upshift App with no real explanation and usually near your paydate. If the app is your only means of contacting the Upshift team who can you talk to about check disputes? You don't have a manager or an HR person to speak with. If you should happen to catch a team member they don't provide real answers and give you the run around especially concerning your pay. Several upshift employees have had the same experience so it seems that this is by design. This business is poorly run and operated, not trustworthy, no accountability and zero transparency. This company lacks integrity and most of the laborers they attract are not the type to file a formal complaint so essentially they are getting away with exploiting students and low wage workers. A Big SCAM at best."
