"I've worked for USM for 3 years. I've worked as both a staff member (1 year) and a faculty member (2 years). The stress levels are very low. Your ability to improve and move up within the University depend almost exclusively on your relationships with members of upper administration. The workplace politics can be tedious to navigate."

"I liked being around people who were interested in learning and improving themselves and their performance. I liked being in a creative environment with people who were passionate about music, art, dance, theatre and performance."

"I would suggest that they ask the director to advise them on every step they take, until they are confident that they can work as desired."
What don't you like about working at University of Southern Mississippi?
"It was frustrating to learn the company culture, which was demanding because I was basically having to train myself, with a lot riding on my success. I was asked to participate in a lot of additional work, so it was easy to become overcommitted, or to confuse things that were not part of my job responsibility with that I could refuse to take part in."

"I would have enjoyed my job more if there had been more delegation among staff members."

"Complete misunderstanding about how software development works with management. They expected to compete with other large company software suits with only two people working on the actual product."
