Adult Education Instructor

What do you like about working at University of Colorado?

"I love helping adults get the skills they need to succeed. I teach business and how to succeed, practical skills, good planning and good people. I work in the music and entertainment school so it's also great because most of the people there are doing something they believe in - it makes helping them so much easier and more fulfilling. The Ah-Ha moments make my day."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Think outside the box - cliched I know, but anyone can teach, not many can do it well and those are often the ones who can think about possibilities as well as probabilities (and have fun while doing it)"

What don't you like about working at University of Colorado?

"I'm an adjunct, part time with no opportunities to change that. I would like more challenges and they're just not available."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make sure all lecturers have lots of real world experience and get them out every few years to refresh their skills."

Tutor

"I started working that Learning Resource Center in August of 2019. The position that I held there was a tutor for the mechanical engineering class. The overall experience that both the office staff and the other tutors gave was one of understanding and welcoming. It was easy to start a genuine conversation with everyone."

"I am a graduate TA for the EBIO department so this is not an ordinary job for people who are not graduate students. But, overall, I love teaching and educating my students. I am also a mentor and that brings me tons of joy. If this was a normal career I would recommend it only if the pay was higher."
