"I have worked at UAB as a graduate research fellow for the past five years and have enjoyed my experience there."
"I love the staff here and working here in general."
"While the company does offer several positive aspects, there are just as many drawbacks."
"I have been a certified course instructor with the department of Human Studies since the Fall 2018 semester. I was able to build, implement, and evaluate my course on substance abuse education and prevention."
"I worked for UAB Hill student Center since 2017 to 2019 and I learned a lot from this job."
"Great company to work for. Great pay, benefits, people to work with."
"Master of Science in Mechanical engineering with specialization in design, simulation, and modeling. Worked on a metro-car model using Ls-Dyna software and performed research for implementation of the automobile external airbag to examine impact mitigation. Worked on projects for the University of Alabama at Birmingham for one year, worked as a Jr. Production Engineer for one year, and an internship with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (O.NG.C.)."
"I've worked at UAB for almost two years and while the University is a good one to attend, the work culture is toxic and very political (on both the University and Hospital sides). Middle management needs a lot of training and a single vision is needed."
"There are a lot of obstacles to go through and politics that stand in everyone's way of getting their jobs done. Employees in some areas would benefit from a change in leadership that does not attempt to micromanage."
"Very nice place to work and study."
"I've worked and studied in the University of Alabama as a PhD student and research assistant. UAB is a great place to study and work for anyone who is talented and self motivated."
"I love teaching, and teaching college students was most preferred. The job gave me a chance to learn the material better compared to learning in the classroom. I wish I was paid better for the work I put into teaching, and sharing my techniques to learning. I was able to show my professors that I could share my knowledge with others, and was offered teaching positions at other schools due to my ability. Thanks for the opportunity to teach my peers. I really enjoyed teaching college freshmen."
"I started at UAB as a temp in 2010 and was offered full time employment in 2011. As a state-run university, the benefits are excellent and the pay is very competitive. My advice to anyone seeking employment at UAB, particularly on the campus side, would be to do some homework regarding the departments (both administrative and academic.) Find out as much as you can about the work environment and the department leaders. As with with any company, some departments are better managed than others."
"Great place to work for a summer internship with little experience needed."
