"$100 a day, no closure when I leave, only a temporary 4 month position, political in-fighting"

"Less people downtown, more people actually out in the counties doing the work. Less meetings, more action!"
"I worked at United Way of Greater New Haven as a Program Evaluator for their CAN housing program. Overall, the experience was highly beneficial in developing my evaluation skills, but the organization did struggle with the bureaucracy of homelessness and lack of integration with community stakeholders (ie. shelters, United Way, enrollers, clients, etc)."

"There were staff members that were very resistant to growth and change which made the job much harder. The organization had a negative community reputation that needed to be overcome."

"I would have removed the people that were not working as a team and that were not in alignment with the organization mission."

"It was a great opportunity to gain real experience with a well-known and respected non-profit. It also looks excellent on your resume for fulture employment, and the helpful and supportive style of the senior managment, like Kevin Stone, and Development Director Hope Moore is barely comparable."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Just remember, be confident, anyone who can be trained and has some level of belief in their own ability can do this job. Raising money for our community should start with our hearts and end with our heads."
What don't you like about working at United Way Worldwide?
"As with any temporary position, the time goes by quickly, and I don't recall there being many open opportunities offered to our team, of over 30 people, to advance within the UWMB. However, it is a wonderful stepping stone."

"Be kind and considerate to the legs of your campaign operation...remember, it takes all of us working together, not just a few well connected people."
