"I’ve been a finish grinder in the Carbide division for over 10 years. The General Manager is extremely overbearing and has followed people around the building in an intimidating manner when he’s unsatisfied with the job you’re doing but offers no specific instructions. Team Leaders and Coordinators stab each other in the back in a desperate attempt to make themselves look better and try to cause counterproductive strife between employees to increase competition and increase production. They like employees with family and personal problems that would have a hard time staying employed anywhere else, because they think they can be counted on to stick around. Good employees without drama and/or issues are overwhelmed with the workload, and bullied when they speak out about the problems and want resolution. All levels of management in this building make up their own rules and disregard the company handbook. The highest level management are aware of all this and seem to be unsure how to proceed. These problems all disappear when the Vice President comes over from the main building to check things out, but seems unwilling to do much. Many believe this is because the division is actually profitable and they’re afraid a shakeup of management may disrupt this, not realizing things could be much better if action was taken. Pay is below average but benefits are inexpensive and pretty good. The ESOP retirement plan is great if you can make 25 years. My advice is to use this job as a training opportunity/resume builder and apply elsewhere after you have some experience. Many people that have been here for years are just sticking it out because of the retirement plan and don’t want to start over. The main building is like a different company and does not have many of these issues."
"Great education challenges and cultural exchanges occur within the environment. No day is the same"
"Good ethicals values, great benefits when you are starting"
"Good pay, decent working environment. Company has lost sight of keeping up with technology."
"this company is a white dominant company which does not appreciate international employees."
"I’ve worked for several Fortune 50 companies including Home Depot, Samsung Electronics and most recently United Technologies. At United Technologies, I led the analytics and data science SCM team. My major accomplishments include; launch of OTD Center of Excellence SharePoint site, deployment of Tableau as reporting tool & dashboard platform across the organization and anomaly detection algorithms for supplier performance degradation. I am impressed by the quality of people who work at the company. They are smart, hard working and the management team is very competent. In my next role, I want to dive deeper into data science and machine learning! I really enjoyed learning about ML algorithms in Stanford’s Machine Learning class and want to apply my knowledge to address opportunities in this rapidly changing field."
"Good Learning Experience, loads of scope for improvement."
"good company, nice work environment, fair payment"
"UTC Otis is the biggest elevator company in the world. A newly created startup org, Otis Digital Innovation hired me to build a new group to develop global digital products, some for organic growth and others to generate new revenue streams. In almost 8 months, my team has successfully launched 2 products with a high adoption rate. I am proud of my team and because of my team, I am successful - their success is my success."
"I've worked with United Technologies since 2010. A great company to work for and an excellent benefits program. Very rewarding and forward-thinking culture."
"Lots of room for frequent internal promotions and mobility within the company to the different offices where you can learn new skills and have new responsibilities as you rapidly advance within the company."
"Excellent team works and was very open for any discussion. Good benefit with lots of vacations and sick days. Upper and middle management often play politic which caused prolong delay on decisions that engineers were depending on. Work space was just fine but hardly or nearly impossible to do anything with company computers, had to spend team budget for separated network and computers and servers."
"I worked with UTC, when they were in early phase to move out of legacy and deploy ServiceNow. It was a great learning and healthy time spent in UTC."
"I am a Full Stack developer with a background in Mechanical Engineering and industry experience building web applications and RESTful APIs. I specialize in JavaScript and Python and have experience with different types of frameworks such as Angular, React and Express. Also skilled in ANSYS, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks."
"I worked for Otis (United Technology) as a contractor for 3 month under the impression the position would be contract to permanent. I was hired to Improve the current change management practices and was given more responsibility as a team lead, configuration Manager and Risk Manager. When my contract was up I was offered a 2 year contract position but I was interested in a permanent position."
