University Health Network Employee

"I worked for Dr. Bo wang from May 2019 to Aug 2019. The experience is enriching and overwhelming as Dr. Wang gathers a group of people from multidisciplinary and function in a large variety of domains. I have learned a lot and would recommend a new grad to gain experience with Dr. Wang on machine learning for sure."

What do you like about working at University Health Network?

"good mission, security, good coworkers, opportunity to grow and learn"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Not sure if this applies to all programs, but the job you are interviewed for will not be the job you end up doing. Position will sound like a great opportunity to grow and learn in the interview, but it will take you several years of working there until you actually start doing that."

What don't you like about working at University Health Network?

"I report to 2 managers who are like night and day. One is great; inspiring, has trust in me and respects me, gives me room to challenge myself without too much of a challenge. The other is either micromanaging or providing no direction at all, gives tasks that are below my level or way too above my head, is generally disrespectful of others' time, and plays favourites. The worst part is that this manager gets away with it."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"encourage and enforce better work-life balance from the top down (for example, discourage lunch hour meetings), require all supervisors to collect performance evaluation feedback from their staff during annual performance review instead of just collecting feedback from the people they know will give them a good report"
