"Be nicer to the technical team and be more understanding"

"The management style here is very macro managing on a extreme scale. The culture is being changed a lot by the acquisition and has created an uncomfortable environment for most employees. All the uncertainty has really affected employee morale and the quality of the work produced by most teams."

What do you like about working at TSYS?

"I really enjoyed the work and the variety of working for different clients. The travel was nice. Money was good."

"Go somewhere else. This company has a track record of using people and then getting rid of them."

What don't you like about working at TSYS?

"Upper management micro-managed almost everything. Project managers did not have project teams but were assigned teams that all reported to a separate manager so the project manager had no control of team members or their assignments or etc. Bad situation to be in as a project manager. Most of the middle- management has been there since the company began and they don't think that anyone who has worked anywhere else knows anything. Upper management is made up of guys that were fortunate sons of other fortunate sons and are mostly clueless."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"WAKE UP!! The people who 'have always been there' are not the brightest bulbs in the box and are the cause of most of the problems. Let the people who manage projects manage the whole project and not just the schedule."

"Always something new going on; different challenges every day. Keeps the job interesting."

"Ask them about their training and their sales support. Ask the last time they changed their comp plan."

What don't you like about working at TSYS?

"They have a good product and a good marketing plan. Nobody else does what they do."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get good sales support for outside sales people so they can do their job more effectively. Figure out how to do better training."

"Their test environment is poor. Too often people test real time. There is nothing more to say. Groups seem to work against each other."

"Good people but resistant to change. They are not really interested in cutting edge IT technologies. Lots of legacy work and tedious server configuration and T-SQL editing."

"The culture is very inconsistent at TSYS. Your experience will vary depending on your hiring manager. We have the full range of bosses from demanding to easygoing."

What don't you like about working at TSYS?

"Poor communication from management to employees. Difficult industry (financial services) with the economy. Best employees are loaded with more work than others."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would create an environment where programmers had more chance to innovate instead of being directed."

"TSYS is the perfect example of what's wrong with the entire country. Poor pay, ridiculous performance levels before earning commissions and astronomical turnover in employees. Penny-wise, pound foolish management restrains the sales people from excelling and getting the long term pipeline of customers necessary to guarantee the business future. No long term planning and just "make a bunch of calls from the Sales Force" template. You are a temp the entire time you are an employee from the date of hire. Look elsewhere for a good job."
