"It's a big bully that is soon to meet its David."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I like the okay benefits and time off for employees. However.... see below."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, unless you have no experience. Then get your experience and get out."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"The organization makes a good speech about how they care. However, their actions speak volumes. They move offices to different cities on a whim. Suddenly hundreds of people are out of a job. They will not work with you to improve your performance; they will deal with you until they don't need you and send you out the door. Discrimination and harassment go unchecked in many of the smaller towns because people are desperate to have a job. The organization froze employee salaries a few years back (but gave themselves nice stock options). All of the real UHG visionaries left about five years ago because there was no compassion for employees or patients. The focus was on making a buck and making more than they did the prior year. Sell more, work faster, then outsource to 3rd parties or offshore work to India. The organization keeps acquiring smaller insurance companies because it's the only way they can keep up their growth, but they loose a lot of members and employees when the nature of the behemoth becomes apparent. Claims aren't consistently processed because there is a work-around for a work-around that was changed yesterday, and an email went out but, oh, you weren't on the distribution list."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get back to basics of health care! Get a soul and understand that when you close offices to reorganize, people's lives are impacted. People dedicate 15 or 20 years and then are pushed out. UHG is a job, not a career."

Training Specialist at Loyola University
in Chicago, IL

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"It has its ups and downs. At heart, it is a great place with great people."

What do you like about working at Loyola University?

"Loyola University Chicago has a great mission and the people here thrive at fulfilling the mission of service to others and continual learning. I really love that the majority of people who I get to work with are interested in learning and excited to be helping others learn as well."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are interviewing for Loyola make sure that you know the mission and that the mission is something you can also follow. The University is extremely mission centered and if you do not think that it fits your style, you will not be happy here. Also, make sure that you really want the position to which you are applying; so many people want to work at a university, but we really want you to also love the job you have here and not just be happy with any job that you might get here."

What don't you like about working at Loyola University?

"Upper management rarely expresses enthusiasm, appreciation, or interest in their workers. You hear a lot about the students, and a lot about the faculty, but staff members seem to be the step-child. This flows down from the very top levels of management to the directors of the departments making initiatives that staff have very hard to move forward."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to your staff. They have wonderful ideas and are eager and excited to share and promote the university. There is a wonderful network of staff at Loyola dedicated to helping make this University one of the top in the nation. Invest in and appreciate your staff to make it even better."

Training Specialist at RWD Technologies
in Baltimore, MD

What do you like about working at RWD Technologies?

"My peers, who were struggling as I was with the company's disorganization, bonded with me and together we helped make the best of a bad situation."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask them about outlook fo new opportunities, get on a good-sized team with a high-profile client: avoid 2-3 man jobs. A lot of bench time means that they have overhired again and will make cuts. Get a verbal agreement that your direct supervisor will be accountable for the feedback required (mine NEVER delivered)."

What don't you like about working at RWD Technologies?

"Those in direct leadership positions to the front-line professionals were incompetent in their handling of the projects, the clients, and especially the employees. Directives were unclear and we had to do the best we could think of with little information: then adminished when we strayed from their uncommunicated ideal. Saddest part is, they had great people working for them... they were just incapable of leading."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be open to new ideas. Have in-house trainers who knew how to train. And for the love of all that is holy, make sure the people you put in charge have PEOPLE skills. not one of my project managers offered help, followed up on feedback, or were dependable in any way. If I didn't know enough to get in good with the right administrative support people, nothing would have ever been done correctly."
