Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at The Children's Place?

"The workload at this company is incredible. The stress brought on by this job is not worth it. The amount of shipment going in and coming out of these stores is insane. Corporate does not have a clue how to balance the amount of shipment the stores receive. Upper management is very negative and not supportive. Time off is like pulling teeth - if you want to leave early you can't even though you put in 10+ extra hours that week. Vacations must be taken only during certain months even though the DM can take hers whenever. If you lose vacation time that is due to your poor planning Double work is a constant - no thought into what is the best way to do something vs how to make it look pretty for the time being. Policies are very inconsistent and what the actual policy says and what the stores do are two completely different things. The customer is always right regardless and there are no deterrents for shoplifters. There are never enough hours to support the workload, servicing customers, and preventing shoplifting. The abuse from shoplifters is the absolute worse. The backrooms are soooo small and are a complete safety hazard."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Corporate needs to actually work in a store and then come up with solutions to the workload and shipment problems. There needs to be more flexibility in scheduling. Respect the employees for all they do - actions speak louder than words."

Store Manager

"BEWARE - STAY AWAY!"

What do you like about working at The Children's Place?

"Fast pace, challenging, the employees."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You will work harder than you ever have, for little money, little respect, and little recognition!! Not worth it!"

What don't you like about working at The Children's Place?

"The workload was incredible - never enough hours to accomplish the workload. The policies - written vs. actual were two different things. Most upper management were very negative and had unrealistic expectations. The amount of shipment that came in at one time was overwhelming. There is very little flexibility with the schedule - you could only take time off when DM said it was ok (even though she took it off whenever) if you lost vacation time - oh well (poor planning on your part) if you needed to leave early, that was not ok, but the 20 hours you put in extra that month was - NO FLEXIBILITY! No raises after all the work we do and then they gave us a 1% raise - thanks."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Fix the amount of shipment coming into a store. Respect the managers for all they put up with - workload and customers. Corporate needs to work in a store to actually see the problems and then go back and actually fix them."
