"I had a summer internship with the Texas Department of Transportation in 2019. I found the company was a great place to work because of the work ethics of the people employed, the sincerity and importance of each contract being outsourced, and the overall culture of the company."

"I have worked for TxDOT for over 2 years now and have learned so much from them. They have sent me to training whenever I wanted and helped me improve my skills. I have gained a lot of knowledge through my superiors and co-workers."

Summer Engineer

"I served as an intern for TxDOT from June 2019 till August 2019. I was tasked with several routine responsibilities such as gathering data, documenting procedures, updating documents and databases, matching mentors and mentees, developing and delivering presentations, recording meeting notes, etc. along with more advanced and specialized responsibilities such as performing QCs on construction Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E), studying processes and creating workflows to improve performance, creating contract time estimates using scheduling software (Primavera P6), automating the process of pairing mentors and mentees, develop existing tools, etc. The working environment was very conducive to learning as well as maximizing productivity. This helped me accomplish tasks well before deadlines. The PPM team not only trained and developed courses to aid project managers but also served as project managers for several key projects, this gave me several opportunities to attend status meetings, kick-off meetings, and review meetings. By attending these meetings, I gained familiarity with TxDOT’s process of letting and managing a project and developed an understanding of the functioning of TxDOT."

"Since the majority of IT functions at headquarters in Austin were outsourced in July 2013, anything I say at this point would be moot. The Executive Director, Phil Wilson is leaving and he will be missed. The people are what make agency employment enjoyable. Everyone is helpful and friendly."
