Overview Tennessee Tech University is a four year university offering bachelors and masters degrees across 6 academic divisions. . Originally founded in 1909 as a church-supported school which struggled to survive, the school reorgsnized in 1916 as Tennessee Polytechnic Institute specializing in high school and junior college level classes. The school became a 4 year college in 1929 and gained university status in 1965 when the name became Tennessee Technological University.

Tennessee Tech is located in Cookeville, Tennessee, approximately 70 miles east of Nashville. The campus has grown from three buildings to over 87 buildings on 235 acres. The school has programs in education, engineering, environmental sciences, nursing and fine arts. Notable Alumni include Dottie West (country singer), Kevin Murphy (NBA), and Roger K.
