"I worked for Tekelec for four years. On several occasions, I was told to dumb down my OO designs and implementations because other employees could not understand them (claiming that future maintainers would not understand them). Switch statements and macros are their favorite constructs. On one project, we were told never to use the 'const' keyword because no one understood const-correctness. Unskilled hacks thrive at Tekelec (purchased by Oracle)."
