Director of Marketing

"Overall, a positive work environment."

What do you like about working at Team National?

"Everyone here seems to get along pretty well and work as a team. Everyone generally works hard, no matter what position they are in in the company. The company rewards good job performance with pizza Thursdays, employee rewards and bonuses. Once a year there is an employee appreciation day where the entire company takes off to do bowling or something as a team-building experience. Jean Friday is great, and there are special holidays where you can dress festive. Every month employee birthdays are recognized and a cake is provided to celebrate. Positive attitude and personal growth are both heavily promoted here. On the whole this is a good thing. Most people are very communicative about their appreciation for a job well done too, and this is great for boosting morale and keeping people motivated and productive."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you have a negative attitude, move on. If you must have health insurance or expect more PTO/vacation days, move on. If you can't travel at all, this is probably not for you. None of those things are currently negotiable. However, if you read through the good and the not so great and you still think it sounds interesting - go for it. Just be yourself and be honest about your skills and experience."

What don't you like about working at Team National?

"The amount of days off is abysmal. PTO is vacation, and vacation is PTO. And there is not much PTO. No telecommuting is permitted unless there are extenuating circumstances. No health insurance is provided to employees. No flex time. Almost all employees are required to travel to two conventions each year, and must build up and break down everything rather than a crew do it, plus work throughout the entire event from morning until night. This is not optional and can be problematic if travel poses a problem for you. The only other thing that really causes issues sometimes, aside from communication misfires or absence (you can't find a company without those issues!), is the last-minute projects or requests to departments lacking resources to accommodate such requests."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be more flexible with schedules. Offer PTO (accrued days up to 10 per year - this is standard in industry) and vacation (5 days first year, 10 second year, and so on) separately. Seriously consider offering health insurance, especially with how things are today with health providers and costs of procedures, etc. Allow more telecommuting - it is a great morale booster. Communicate better and plan more."
