Taft Communications Employee

"I worked at Taft from 2021-2022 and this is what I observed; 1. Leadership is very inconsistent with their DEI values. It's very hard to claim to be focused on DEI but your staff does not reflect that and when a few young BIPOC employees were present, they received desperate treatment. The BIPOC employees were either suddenly fired or quit due to the severe impact the unfair treatment was having on them. DEI initiatives are just checkboxes or random numbers for leadership to place in blog posts but it doesn't mean anything to Taft. In a 2022 survey, the whole company voted and acknowledged that diversity and inclusion was the LEAST "lived up to" value at Taft. How can Taft provide a diversity survey for NJ but the state of their company is hypocritical to the whole purpose of the survey? 2. Leadership will only provide promotions to those who have had relationships with them outside of the company - important to note that the CFO's son works here as well. There are no real opportunities for growth unless they like you enough to make up a position for you. -- for them to "like" you, you have to make yourself a slave for Taft. Even that has its contingencies + nuances. 3. There is no real company culture for those who don't have children or are not white. Sucks if you're a childless person in a marginalized group. The company culture is really people trying to be "buddies" with you solely so you can feel guilted into taking tasks they think they're too good to do. 4. Leadership has stolen work from more junior employees and claimed the ideas as their own 5. Leadership will lowball your salary and still expect you to overwork 6. Leadership will decide to change the requirements of your role w/o any discussion or reason If you have ANY self-respect or actual goals for yourself, you'll take the time to search for a company that will not squeeze you dry and kick you to the curb. If don't take the time to find a better job now, you DEFINITELY will later. Not worth it."
