"Sometimes upper management put unrealistic restrictions and goals on profitable departments that were pulling their own weight but was expected to pull the weight of other departments that weren't."

"Listen to your people who really care about the company because they can see what is really going on."

"The cronyism and cliques. If you just did your job, it wasn't good enough. If you brown-nosed, you're in, no matter how badly you did your job. Not bitter, just honest."

"You don't want to know, as you never listened or cared in the past."

"The independence that is given to me under loose supervision. I have been in this industry a long time and they enjoy the way I apply different experiances to solve unique sitations."

"Do not be affraid to show off a little, be yourself and express your ideas"

"The corporation is based overseas. Some of the idealistic approaches towards manufacturing does not work well internationally."

"Trust others with less experiance to resolve their own issues. With supervision of course"

"You will not be satisfied if you wanted this to be a career, their turnover is high for a reason (even pre-bad economy)"

"I liked my co-workers. My boss was a good boss."

"You only need to look good and speak well, honestly just take direction well and say you are flexible with work assignments and changes (it sounds nice and easy but they are notorious for making changes just to do it). Be prepared to be misused though."

"The pay and benefits are horrible, the expect too much for what they pay. Corporate is very out of touch with it's workers in my opinion."

"if you can't pay people give them time off. Get more capable directors. Stop making exceptions to all of your SOG's"

"better product flow that can produce higher profits"

"I had complete autonomy with the accounts in eastern North Carolina. This worked well for both of us."

"Don't do it. The building supply market is critically wounded and if you are looking for secure position this isn't the place to go. If you insist on going here, it is very helpful if you are familiar with the communities you will be working in."

"I have no complaints."

"Considering the building market today I am not sure there is anything here to say."

"The people where wonderful like family. We all worked very very hard."

"Just be yourself and if you are in sales expect ."

What don't you like about working at Stock Building Supply?

"The Austin Market Manager. John had no back bone at all. When it came time that they did lay-offs he decided that it was smart to lay-off operations and keep all sales. The week that I was laid off 2 sales people make a total of 100,000 worth of mistakes but guess what they are still working at stock in Austin. Other then the issues with the market manager it was a good place to work for. Since my lay-off a few months ago they have laid many others off. Right now would I work for them probably not. You have no idea if your going to have a job tomorrow. Look some place else."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put money where it needs to go not in places where it does not. Don't spend millions on showrooms and close them down then lay half the staff off because their is no money. I am sure if millions did not go into showrooms some would still have a job."

"I had a great career at Stock Building Supply. I started working in the warehouse and worked my way through many great years there. I liked that Stock afforded me the opportunity to learn and advance and in a great company."

What don't you like about working at Stock Building Supply?

"The only thing I did not like about working at Stock is that as the new construction industry came to a hault, so did my job."

"I would have liked better commuication to get orders to the customers in a correct and prompt manner."
