"Utilize the ability to train and look at current needs and perhaps change recruiting criteria"

What do you like about working at Steak 'n Shake?

"there is no appreciation or respect for the employees. managers are punished by corporate for being soft (read:caring too much) about the people who bust their butts every day for them. you are expected to essentially be on call at all times, personal time in nonexistent. they use every tool to knock down bonus amounts. average work week is 60+ hours. forget the vacation time they promise, you are never approved for it. anyone can call in a fake complaint and you will be suspended/fired for it. miserable environment."

"do not take a salary position, they will own you."

What don't you like about working at Steak 'n Shake?

"get an anti-anxiety prescription first, 7 of 9 managers in my district took them to deal with the stress."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"invest in the people on the front lines (cooks, servers), they are the ones running the show."

What do you like about working at Steak 'n Shake?

"I liked that we used to be about our people, that we cared not only about our customers but about the people that worked for us. We were a family based company and helped each other through good and not so great times."

"They need to understand that the job is not in and out. You must spend time to make it work, you must wear a lot of hats, stay positive, don't let the stress get to you, don't forget who you are as a person."

What don't you like about working at Steak 'n Shake?

"The company has went through several changes over the last 3 years, I feel that we have last track of the importance of taken care of our people along with taking care of our guests, We have also lost track of training and the importance of training correctly and effectively."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Not to forget that we all go through tough times and we are all human, we must always respect one another and look out for one another even when it is hard to do. Not to forget where we came from."
