Working at Starbucks in Redmond, OR: 1 Employee Reviews

Starbucks Employee

"Oh boy, okay. The first few months are great. It’s fun, exciting, and you think you’ll have a blast. However, after the first few months you start to realize how truly awful it is to work in this environment. The management is beyond awful, you are treated extremely unfairly and you are paid extremely unfairly for the amount of work you do and the stress you go through. The only perks of this job are the benefits and the free coffee, that is it. Management plays favorites, believes with all their heart they are better than every single other employee and isn’t afraid to “subtly“ show it. The scheduling is a complete nightmare, you are purposely scheduled 5.75 hour shifts so that they aren’t required to give you a lunch, yet you’ll end up staying 6 hours anyway. One week you will be working 37 hours and the next week you work 10. You barely have any say in that and although the store is grotesquely understaffed on some days, they won’t give you more hours. Yet when you have more than enough people to work on another day, management won’t let you have that day off. Management only cares about one thing and that is how fast their employees work because the faster we are the bigger their paycheck. You are treated with the utmost disrespect and sometimes you are even spoken down to as if you are mentally slow. Management thinks that just because they’re above everybody else in terms of work-related power, that somehow that gives them the right to be entitled and talk down to the people below them. I have never been more miserable at a job in my life, let alone a job that I normally would love. If you’re looking for a part-time or full-time (whatever they want to give you) job that will only last a few short months, it’s a fun place to work. Just don’t stay too long or you’ll realize how soul crushing this job really is. PROS: • fun coworkers and some loyal customers • free drinks/food during your shift CONS: • literally every other aspect"
