"I have worked for Stage Stores since 2013 and have found it to be a rewarding experience. The truth is, had it not been for the health pandemic shuttering stores and forcing the company to file for voluntary chapter 11 bankruptcy, I would not be searching for a role with another employer. The location of the home office, in the Galleria area of Houston, is the only downside for me personally. Other than that, the people I worked with are amazing and I believe in their go-forward off-price strategy. I hope they find a buyer and are successful even if I am not able to be a part of it."
"I've worked for Stage Stores since 2019. I would rate the company and the people very highly overall."
"Great company - if they can make it through bankruptcy!"
"The company that I work for is a mid sized retailer with stores in the east coast and mid west. The IT infrastructure could be better with the use of cutting edge technology and tools for the developers and testers to do their jobs better. Otherwise, the environment is fun to work at."
"I have enjoyed working here."
"Stage Stores has began a focus on off price retail. Although web sales are doing good, the off price chain does not have a retail platform."
"I've found this company to not make the best corporate decisions."
"I enjoyed working here. It's a fast-paced environment, and I was never bored. Helpful management."
"The company was enjoyable to work for in the beginning, but as it's changed hands more is expected of us, with less resources, and it's becoming mission impossible. Most of the managers that were in place in my district when I started are now gone. We're down managers now. I feel that the company needs to reallocate resources and re-prioritize if it's going to keep good employees long term."
"I've worked as a counter manager for a while now. We are being asked once again to do a useless promotion with ridiculous goals having been set. At this point we have been told to look for other jobs if we don't reach these goals. What a way to live!!"
"Not very good at training. The team is so small, the systems so old, and the workload so rushed that getting somebody to spend quality training time with the newbies is very rare. And, there is no existing patience for a learning curve from management. Makes the atmosphere very tough. But, my peers are some of the best people I've ever worked with."
What do you like about working at Stage Stores?
"Overworked, underpaid. I work a full days work in a 3 hour shift. A 3 hour shift hardly makes it worth my time to drive in."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Back breaking work for enough pay to scrape by. Schedule is great though, if you like 3-4 hour shifts."
What don't you like about working at Stage Stores?
"I work on my own, set my own agenda. Fine with me. However, that doesn't stop the managment from piling more on my shoulders at their convience."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Give the stores the furnishings they need to display the merchadise effectivly."
"I enjoyed the crew under me. But the Manager was not honest."
"I learned a lot at this company."
