What do you like about working at Spectrum Health?

"the focus on continuing education and one on one with pt. care to provide best care service for each individual"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"management is looking for big visionaries for their big hospitals but within budget....that is what we hear in our business meetings every week. it is a good place to work in our area because it offers so many speciality areas, we have a strong women's health program, aquatics rehab, pediatrics with a beautiful new children's hospital and neonatal facility, a short term stay rehab facility, several orhopedic outpatient centers all over the Grand Rapids area, a return to work program with a Medical Director, and a Center for Spine Care with several physician's referring to our many McKenzie trained therapists throughout our system and a Medical Director who also oversees this program as well. It is a hospital full of opportunity and promotes education and vision to give the best care and latest advanced medical treatment in West Michigan to our clients. So, whatever your speciality may be...market that and give them your vision."

What don't you like about working at Spectrum Health?

"it is feeling too corporate in the last few years. It seems our direct managers decisions and focus have been forced to be more on big visions without how it affect the staff person. We are moved and hours changed and teams broken up and smaller facility family feelings no longer exsist which do not just affect staff, but the pt.'s who want the home town family Dr. feeling. They want the staff where everybody knows your name when you walk in...even at the out patient clinics. That feeling seems to have been lost since our company has grown to such a big corporation and has moved staff around like pawns"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"before making big changes, talk to the staff at your outpt. locations...get the feel for the culture there, understand the market, understand the needs for incorporating the vision but also keeping our faithful clients who have become our health care family too."
