Technical Support Engineer

"I've worked for Sorenson for about 2 years now. It's great to start at but it's not where you want to stay for a very long time. No room to advance in the company. The technical support position is not very challenging and doesn't put my college education into good use. I prefer to work and learn at the same time."

Sorenson Communications Employee

"The pay is good, but the work environment is extremely process centric with more focus on meeting arbitrary schedules than developing real solutions to better products. Our customers love us, we have a strong market position, but I don't really get a sense of where we go from here. It's a challenging market because of mandates from the government."

"Everything is good, but you won't be happy with the amount of salary they offered. I believe they are under bankrupt and trying to reconstruct their budget right now."

What do you like about working at Sorenson Communications?

"Cutting edge technology that allowes me to Interpret in situations that I would never otherwise be able to interpret for. Excellent way to improve interpreting skills, good pay, good benefits if full time, very flexable hours and amazing staff!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The hiring process is easy enough as long as you have the appropriate certification. everything else is pretty straight forward."

What don't you like about working at Sorenson Communications?

"The policies are becoming so restrictive that it is effecting our work, and the clients are noticing. Some clients are switching to other companies because our interpreters arent as amiable, or engaging. Also, sitting in front of a camera and computer for hours a day is affecting my health."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Over the past few years, the compony has gotten more and more constrictive in their policies, focusing almost entirely on numbers rather than quality of service to our customers. We need to get back to the small business feel, when interpreters could greet their customers with a sincere smile rather than a forced one."
